Every trip to the Chinese countryside seems like a new adventure as you never know what you will find and who you will meet!
Early this January, Miki embarked on her latest picking trip. It wasn't easy traveling to her final destination during a sudden Winter cold snap but it made for an interesting and fun trip as always! After landing in Beijing, it was off on a Long Distance Sleeper Bus to visit a few little villages in the north east of China.
Found a few very unique pieces including some we have never seen before!
Like these amazing Dice! Playing with these massive Dice used to be one of the most popular forms of group entertainment in the countryside! Constructed from wood frames and painted tiles each side is adorned with a different animal instead of numbers. These particular Dice date to c.1900
Ever wonder what tools a traditional Chinese woodworker used? Miki found a complete set of vintage tools on this trip! This set dates to c.1940
Plus a whole lot of more...
Visiting many different villages allows Miki the opportunity to enjoy the various street foods on offer! Her favourite as always was the classic Chinese breakfast consisting of Chinese Long Donuts, Tofu Nao, Tea Eggs, and of course oodles of Noodles!
